Edinburgh Zoo publishes its own birthday parties rather than leaving you to buy twelve day tickets and hope for a table. The hill is part of the day: it is a proper walk, which is a feature for sevens and eights and a problem with a double buggy and a cake. It is a strong choice for primary age in the city and the Lothians. It is not a trampoline party in a jumper.

Zoo car park off Corstorphine Road. Buses also stop nearby — if half the guests are coming from Leith, say so and do not assume everyone drives.
Food and drink for the adults
Cafés on the hill. The party food is for the children unless the package says otherwise. Parents who walk the zoo will want a hot drink more than another juice.
Good to know
Check whether admission is inside the package or on top. The site is steep. A child who cannot manage the hill needs a plan, not a pep talk at the gate.
